The department, established in 1976, is an all volunteer fire departent in the Brazoria County Emergency Services District #3, located in the community of Demi-John situated between Angleton and Freeport, Texas. The first response district of 77 square miles is populated by a mix of 800-900 permanent and weekend recreational residents with homes and property located near the intersection of Bastrop Bayou and Brazoria County Road 227.

The Brazoria County ESD #3 contracts with the department to provide emergency services to the community; however, additional donations are welcome to enable purchases of additional equipment, supplies, maintenance and training.
